As I sit here beginning a blog I've intended to start for quite some time, my mind is wandering to everything else that I need to do today before getting to the airport. Yesterday I was able to make some headway by doing lots of laundry and at least getting that into the suitcase, uploading some cds to the laptop (yes, i still own tons of those shiny discs) and purging my wallet of all the things I do not need abroad. However, rather than staying home and getting it all done, I thought it better to spend some time with Chris and his family by going to Bingo. (And letting those popping, numbered balls tease me several times, before not winning.) It was a good time, and nice to get a little time with Chris, his mom and grandmother. Today will be filled with lots of the last minute items; debating much too long over what to wear on our down time, replanting my tomato and lettuce plants so they don't phase out while I'm away, baking something for C (once he wakes I'll find out what 'something' is), inevitably uploading more music and making sure I have everything I need and I need to hand out to the students (and almost graduates!) at the airport. While I am looking forward to traveling to Turkey and Ireland, the excitement will likely not fully set in until I'm up in the air.
Hopefully I will keep up with this blog while away and, ultimately, beyond that. I don't really foresee this taking on a particular direction, because, let's face it, I have never really focused on one thing. This may be a good place to share recipes, sewing projects (once I actually complete a few...) and just what is going on in general. In the meantime, though, I hear my converter calling from my desk drawer, asking me to please put it in my suitcase, so I'll get on that...
